New World/Life-Type And Colony Cost Adjustment

I developed to new world-type/life-form rules because what we have at the moment isn't that realistic, see Procyon's houserules, however it's not as harsh as those. Additionally it deals with the case of pre-Oxygen Catastrophe Earth. Earth hasn't always had an oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere and in fact ...

Re: Grab Bag Of Questions

Cralis the question is (Was probably in light of procyon's answer) how do I apply a Breakthrough, which is a research activity, to a hull type, something that is prototyped and NOT researched.

Re: Grab Bag Of Questions

I think he is asking about the breakthrough to get generational hulls. You automatically get the alpha gen of hulls. So you can make a 30 HS DDa. But you have to make the breakthrough to make a 35 HS DDb. At least I think that is what he is referring to. Exactly. You don't research hulls, you proto...

Re: Grab Bag Of Questions

#1, That makes games-rules sense, if not in-game sense. Of course you'd also need to figure out cost for the launchers. As for EDM's and planets, would interposing the DF of the missile do something, and I've got the nagging feeling I'm missing something here, and not just the times 3 damage for obj...

Re: Grab Bag Of Questions

Huh, the wording on bases was a bit different, to me suggesting that they didn't need to meet the armed criteria, doesn't make any sense, but still there. Any idea why PDC's aren't allowed? You (normally) start with Ta, so that would be a yes. And you've still missed my last two questions, about Hul...

Re: Grab Bag Of Questions

Cralis, could I get an answer to my other questions as well? As to the matter of I, Ic, and J, it's not actually unique, most non-beam weapons have the Anti-Matter generator Twig on them (Have fun with THAT)

Re: Is Maintenance Too High?

Cralis I'm already moving research funding to annual only, and I suppose that colonization could be moved as well. I don't want to move maintenance, as this causes problems with ships only being active half the year or discourages mothballing ships. Moving building would be a BAD idea, it make emerg...

Grab Bag Of Questions

OK the first up is the Battle Fund: Battle Fund (5,000 MCr) : Ships purchased through this fund may not be equipped with X, must be armed, and must be at least escort (ES) sized or larger. Bases and small craft can also be built, but freighters, PDCs and SS cannot. Am I reading this wrong, because i...

Re: Is Maintenance Too High?

Three things Cralis: 1) This should encourage putting some funds aside for such situations, cutting down on the number of ships floating around problem. 2) Sell some IU, or FT to the CFN. Or simply scrap some older ships. 3) Maybe a rule about being able to free up funds from another part of the bud...

Re: Is Maintenance Too High?

Whitecold, these special turns are only for population incomes, so IU, FT leasing, and CC incomes are unaffected and pay out their normal amounts every turn, part of why I'm not thinking of reducing maintenance further. (Interest is lower but it still pays out every turn). As for running in the red,...
