I have a question in a similar vein; apologies for the hijack. I'm using an older version of Excel that can't handle the depth of function calls in the SSF spreadsheet. I do, however, also have OpenOffice which can open the spreadsheet (it takes about 10 minutes to convert), so I was wonderi...
As an addendum, the first time I rolled out the Baltic -class, it was a terrifying sight for my enemy. He sent in a small gunboat strike on what he thought were some defenseless battleships (since he'd only ever seen my Mk1 FlaK CLs) and two of them in datalink completely killed a Gba flight, and an...
It's kind of funny that about a year ago I asked if there was interest in doing a quick video walk through of the spreadsheet, but there wasn't a lot of interest. Guess that means there's interest now :) Let me do some playing around, I might be able to get something done up tomorrow or maybe Monday...
But xveers do you feel these advantages justify having such a large ship requirement? Like I said a modifier of 9 would make sense seeing how that would allow BBS to have turreted Kx’s you still would not see any turreted Kcx’s Or Khx’s. I just think that the advantages you list don’t warrant the 5...
Dedicated PD ships don't really work out, since they mostly defend themselves, and not their targets, so everything that doesn't carry around that kind of PD is still vulnerable. Also, nothing but PD currently deals significant damage to GBs early on. Your 10 Db only get a BASV of 30, with some 20H...
The K weapons are one that definitely look weak up front. Crappy arcs, low damage, and shorter range compared to other LRW. While you're looking at fully turreted K weapons requiring a massive ship, broadside K require a FAR smaller ship (IIRC you can fit a Ke on a broadside heavy cruiser), and a br...
At the start of the game, your colony has a range of 60 tH. That seems pretty bad for the cost. Even with Yca, the range is only 1 sH. I'm wondering if people build little outposts for that effect, like in the Ernie's Earthling Empire tutorial. I've done it before, but I did that on a planet in the...
If you're looking at getting chits made, so long as you stick to a fairly common/standard format (which I believe the Starfire chits do) then you can save quite a bit on the tooling and production costs, and just have the per-unit printing and packing.
