Re: Small craft on standard hulls

I've always thought it would be cool to rebuild the Stars at Wars battles with Ultra designed ships. Lack of time has prevented me from playing with it. And because I've never really played the battles from the official rules that much. They seemed unbalanced and my friends didn't want to fight the...

Re: Section U: Espionage Rules

I rather see the issue being that people (SMs) don't run NPRs "properly" IE with their own national goals and desires. Granted this means handling them almost as PRs but if you don't then they either become the interstellar equivalent of goody huts. You either get extra MC and weapons and ...

Re: Section U: Espionage Rules

Greetings! I was wondering where I could find the Espionage rules for Starfire Ultra? I noticed them mentioned in the Ultra_Mod5 spreadsheet, but I have been unable to find them on the downloads section of the main site. Ah yes, these spy rules. They were done by a third party, and Marvin wasn't ev...

Re: Starfire without WP's?

You know Club, that very topic has come up before... ...although I think someone finally put out an official HH game. I remember seeing it and intending to look into it. I wonder what it is based on. Those guys would be http://www.adastragames.com/ and it's based on their own game engin...

Re: ORDERS

If Staples gives you crap, take your laptop to a Kinkos. The pricing isn't much worse, the color quality is excellent, and they won't look twice. Additional bonus, you can use their computer for a few minutes (they won't charge much at all) and then roll it off via that and not even have to bring th...

Re: Future of Starfire Turn Spreadsheet Mk5

I could swear I got the spreadsheet to determine habitability without much trouble. I may have been using a 'cheat' table on another tab, however, that determines gets used as a lookup table for the colony portion of the spreadsheet. Its been a while, so I don't remember for sure ... I use a simila...

Re: Future of Starfire Turn Spreadsheet Mk5

Like Matt, I dislike having a 20kbyte "empty" document, which has always been my problem with MS Office (in OO the same "empty" file is something like 2k or 4k ... basically, the block size of datastorage on a HDD). BTW, the calculations for income should not be that nasty. I go...

Re: Future of Starfire Turn Spreadsheet Mk5

Honestly, at this point if at all possible I'd transfer the spreadsheets to Open Office. It's free, it's multi-platform (Office 07 on the Mac is crippled) and so on. And even if you don't, I really can't recomend switching to the .xlsl format, the "compatability pack" fails miserably when...

Re: Future of Starfire Turn Spreadsheet Mk5

I'm just curious: do you need Excel 2007 to make macros? No, technically you don't. They've been around for a while. However, I finally learned macros on 2007, and it does have several commands in basic Office 2007 that aren't in newer ones. For example, in normal Excel (97 and earlier) you have to...
