Re: Starfire WMD: Dropping Rocks

No matter how realistic it is to use asteroid bombardment, it just isn't allowed.
It was used in the novels, but it just isn't allowed by players.

Re: Economic spread sheet

There was a document written by William Wells that is called updated spreadsheet help.doc

It was included with the GSF sheets at one point, or you can look to see if it was added the SDS downloads page.

Re: Survey Ship Timing

What are you using the response delay for? By P7.02 order generation takes 1d10 hours For the chance for survey ships to find each other use the V2 rules. You are right that without Yc ships finding each other is very low. Habitable planets will change that as ships will probably head to a habitable...

Re: Economic spread sheet

We have players in our games that try to use the empire spreadsheet as an organizational tool more or less, since the macro functionality won't work for them when they try to use it with non-MS workbooks... google docs, etc. It is quite a pain for both the player and SM in our experience. In theory...

Re: Gunboat question for GBa (SL6 GB)

Most of my players have used CT or CTf hulls to run out and meet the Gunboats. This usually means the gunboats wait until the main fleet is in range to focus on killing the escorts before the gunboats go in. For people that are interested, I did do some experiments where I let small craft and ships ...

Re: Useless Weapons

Just for fun I tried one game where I only used Missiles, sprint missiles and x-ray lasers. G generally doesn't perform as well as other SRW. The main reason for G is so you can get fG for small craft. Gc has some potential but the early G branch is tough. I do agree that K is a hard weapon to use. ...

Re: Starfire New Empires v. Starfire III: Empires

Oy. No wonder I forgot. My apologies... Mind if I borrow heavily? ;) Please borrow away. I post things here so they get used. This system was tested in at least 3 campaigns. Better with it in a forum as it usually can be found unlike the mailing list that was before where stuff could get lost if pe...

Re: PBEM game?

Which rule set? I recommend against home rules but deciding on which optional rules are good. Unless you have a home rule around making ships more expensive so fleets don't get out of hand. I would check out the Vassel modules which are free and a bit lighter weight than Tabletop sim which goes too ...
