September, Age of Expansion, Year 1

Postby kedrake on Fri 27 Jun 2014 13:39

Income for the month is nearly 3150 MC.

Fleet maintenance increases slightly with addition of destroyer last month, but increasing revenues help offset that slightly. Maintenance spending creeps up to 59.4% of TGI.

Research continues on Sensors, Sprint Missiles, and Regular Missiles, which could start to show results any time now. Also research continues on (CICb), and Economic Advancement (which still have a ways to go before any success can be achieved). Scientists are still striving for a breakthrough into the technology base to begin work on Datalink Technology. Research accounts for over 22% of TGI.

No new units are started this month, construction costs are 0.

The CFN is hired to transport 1.25 million colonists to Trent-B-II, which will bring to population to 2.75 million. 300,000 colonists also continue the exodus to the Gryphon system asteroid belt and that will bring the population there to over 6.5 million. Colonization costs are 17.5% of TGI.

The CLc Flechette joins the Home Fleet as the new Flagship. Seneschal Ashdown moves his flag from the DD Talon, and Talon’s Executive Officer, Sergeant Winton is promoted to Knight and takes command of the lead ship of the class.

As our expansion into the galaxy at this point has been (when considering populations) solely down the Gryphon - Cambridge - Trent warp line, and Trent itself will end up with a fairly large number of Kingdom citizens, it would be prudent to station some military forces on a permanent basis in that system.

Home Fleet now consists of 1 Command Light Cruiser and 5 Destroyers. Three Destroyers (Claw, Nail, and Rake) will be detached from Home Fleet and be the initial core of the newly designated 1st Combat Fleet. Seneschal Ashdown outlines a proposal where both the 1st Combat and Home Fleets will eventually end up with the follow organization:

1 Flechette Class Light Command Cruiser (the Fleet Flagship).
2 Flechette Class Light Cruisers
3 Talon Class Destroyers
2 Erickson Class Frigates.

This decision has wide ranging effects on the Kingdom’s budget. Moving forward, the Ministry of Colonization will be directed to keep its expenditures down to a maximum of 15% of TGI, and the Ministry of Research and Development will be capped at 20%. Depending on the outcome of the surveys in progress, it may be possible to mothball one of our Survey Fleets, and this would free up more funds for other areas.

The 1st Exploration Fleet completes the Warp Point Survey of the Dudley system and finds no new warp points. This makes the Gryphon - Bristol - Dudley chain AND the Gryphon - Leeds - Thetford chain both dead ends. The only expansion route left is Gryphon - Cambridge - Trent and its single unexplored warp point. The Asteroid Belt survey is also completed.

The 2nd Exploration Fleet completes the Survivable Bodies survey of the B component of the Thetford system, finding one 1 Very Rich Desolate moon (and several less desirable ones). The fleet then moves to the A component and begins a Survivable Bodies survey there.

The 3rd Exploration Fleet completes the Survivable Bodies survey of the B component of the Trent system and finds 3 desolate very rich moons. It also completes the Asteroid Belt Survey and moves back to the A component of the Binary system to begin a Survivable Bodies survey there.

October, Age of Expansion, Year 1

Postby kedrake on Mon 30 Jun 2014 15:13

Income for the month is over 3200 MC.

The addition of the new CLc Flechette to the Home Fleet drives fleet maintenance up slightly to 61% of TGI.

Research continues on Sensors, Sprint Missiles, Regular Missiles, and (CICb), which could start to show results any time now. Also research continues on Economic Advancement (which still have a ways to go before any success can be achieved). Scientists are still striving for a breakthrough into the technology base to begin work on Datalink Technology. As set forth by Royal Dictate, research accounts for exactly 20% of TGI.

No new units are started this month, construction costs are 0.

The CFN is hired to transport 1.1 million colonists to Trent-B-II, which will bring to population to nearly 3.9 million. This will move Trent-B-II from a Colony to a Settlement. An analyst from the Bureau of Colonization points out that putting colonists on the third moon of Griffon-VI would actually have a 5% greater ROI than the colonists being shipped to the asteroid belt. 500,000 colonists make the journey to the type mF moon (one of them notes the mF must stand for Mother F#cking cold). Colonization costs are capped at 15% of TGI.

The new budgeting guidelines do provide a surplus this month triple that of the surplus from last month, however 3 times almost nothing is still not very much. Therefore, the 1st Exploration Fleet will travel back to the Gryphon system and be put into mothballs. Also the ships that were started as part of the 4th Exploration Fleet will be absorbed into the 1st and are mothballed immediately for hopefully just the short term. The flagship of the 1st Exploration Fleet, the frigate Brilliant will be reassigned to the 1st Combat Fleet as one of the two frigates in that fleet's order of battle. Marshal Cromwell outranks all of the Knights in the 1st Combat and will become the commanding officer of the fleet. He will remain on the Brilliant for now, but will move his flag as soon as they get one of the new Light Command Cruisers.

The 2nd Exploration Fleet completes the Survivable Bodies survey of the A component of the Thetford system, finding 4 Very Rich Desolate moon (and several less desirable ones). Not bothering to survey the Cold Asteroid Belt orbiting 34 LM from the primary, the fleet heads out on the 2 month journey to Trent, ending in the Cambridge system.

The 3rd Exploration Fleet completes the Survivable Bodies survey of the A component of the Trent system and finds 5 desolate very rich moons. It also catalogs two type B worlds, one with rich and one with very rich resources. Marshal Walters, in the FG Vivid, probes the the Kingdom’s only unexplored warp point and finds a dim Red M0 star orbited by 4 gas giants and 4 ice worlds. Hopefully there will be warp points heading out of this system. He names the system Nottingham.

The research facility working on Sprint Missile technology is rocked by an explosion in one of the testing labs and reports a loss of approximately 20% of the data collected up until this point. [Rolled a 100].

A science academy reports success in research of Sensor Technology (SL 2). This points to a new area of research into something they are calling Capital Sensors. These new systems should allow must greater detection range for our ships mounting them. However this will require a breakthrough into this area of technology, and if Datalink is any indication, it could be quite a while before this technology becomes available.

For his outstanding service over last 10 months, Seneschal Ashdown is awarded the Meritorious Service Cross (is promoted to LG+1 per S.1.04.2)

Income for the month is nearly 3290 MC.

Rising incomes and the mothballing of several survey ships last month has brought Fleet Maintenance down to just under 57% of TGI (the lowest percentage all year).

Research continues on Sprint Missiles, Regular Missiles, and (CICb), which could start to show results any time now. Also research continues on Economic Advancement (which still have a ways to go before any success can be achieved). Scientists are still striving for a breakthrough into the technology base to begin work on Datalink Technology and Capital Sensors. R&D remains at 20% of TGI.

Funds a slowly being set aside to construct another Flechette CLc for 1st Combat Fleet, and construction should begin next month; however zero new units are started this month, construction costs are 0.

The CFN is hired to transport an additional 1.1 million colonists to Trent-B-II, which will bring to population to over 5 million. 450,000 colonists make the journey to the third moon of Griffon-VI, bringing the population to nearly maximum for the environment. 50,000 colonists head for the asteroid belt. Colonization costs hit 14.7% of TGI.

Seventeen ships of the 1st Exploration Fleet are put into mothballs by their crews. The Magellan class escorts Hennepin and Raleigh as well as the Courier class explorer Hermes are reassigned to the Home Fleet.

The 2nd Exploration Fleet finishes its journey to Nottingham and join’s the 3rd Exploration Fleet in a Warp Point Survey. At the end of the month they are nearly 40% complete. Even with both fleets working exclusively on the Warp Point Survey, it will be January before they finished.

A science academy reports a breakthrough has finally been made in the area of Datalink technology (Knot is broken to open the Branch). This allows research to begin in earnest on Datalink science.

Income for the month is over 3360 MC.

Mothballing the remainder of the survey ships from the 1st Exploration Fleet last month has brought Fleet Maintenance down to just over 46% of TGI (the lowest percentage all year).

Research continues on Sprint Missiles, Regular Missiles, and (CICb), which could start to show results any time now. Also research continues on Economic Advancement (which still have a ways to go before any success can be achieved). Research begins in Datalink Technology (SL2) and the entire initial startup phase is completed (the first 10 RPs). R&D remains at 20% of TGI.

A new Flechette class CLc is laid down at the shipyard for the 1st Combat Fleet. Construction costs are 19% of TGI

The CFN is hired to transport an additional 1.15 million colonists to Trent-B-II, which will bring the population to over 6.23 million. At the current rate we project the population will move from a settlement to a “small” population in 3 more months. 500,000 colonists make the journey to the Gryphon system asteroid belt taking the population to over 6.75 million. The asteroid belt population should hit the “small” level in 4 or 5 months. Colonization costs hit 15.1% of TGI.

The 2nd and 3rd Exploration Fleets work on the warp point survey of the Nottingham system, and will be finished early next month.

Scientist report success in the area of Sprint Missile research (SL2).

Income for the month is over 3435 MC.

Fleet Maintenance takes up slightly more than 45% of TGI.

Research continues on Regular Missiles, and (CICb), which could start to show results any time now. Also research continues on Datalink, and Economic Advancement (which still have a ways to go before any success can be achieved). Breakthroughs are being pursued in Capital Sensors and a new technology being called Automated Platforms by our scientists. R&D remains at 20% of TGI.

A new Flechette class CL is laid down at the shipyard for the 1st Combat Fleet. Construction costs are under 19% of TGI. A Flechette Class CL is different from a CLc in that is does not have a (CICa) installation, but in its place carries 1 more standard and 2 more sprint missile launchers. The costs per ship are nearly identical.

The CFN is hired to transport an additional 1.15 million colonists to Trent-B-II, which will bring the population to nearly 7.5 million. 550,000 colonists make the journey to the Gryphon system asteroid belt taking the population to nearly 7.9 million. Colonization costs hit 14.7% of TGI.

The 2nd and 3rd Exploration Fleets finish the warp point survey of Nottingham, finding 2 new warp points. Both are 180 Light Minutes from the primary, but are directly opposite of each other - one at 5 o’clock from the primary, the other at 11 o’clock. While the fleets are together they start and complete a Survivable Bodies Survey, finding 4 Very Rich Desolate moons (and cataloging 14 other moons of various types).

Marshal Montfort, aboard the 2nd Exploration Fleet flagship Lucent, probes the warp point at 11 o’clock and finds himself in a starless nexus. The entry warp point is classified as another, even harder to discover type of warp point. This warp point will be so difficult to detect it skips the as yet undiscovered classification of a Type 3 (Hidden) and is cataloged at a Type 4 (Secret). Its full classification is Type 4D, and it is located 288 light minutes from the primary at a bearing of 11 o’clock. Montfort names the system Sheffield and his fleet begins another Warp Point Survey.

Marshal Walters probes the warp point at 5 o’clock and notes a class M5 Red Dwarf system with 1 rocky planet tide locked just 1 Light Minute from the dim primary, 1 Gas Giant, 4 Ice Worlds, and 15 various moons. The entry warp point is a standard Type 1C opening 156 Light Minutes from the primary at a bearing of 11 o’clock. The system is named Winterton, and a Warp Point Survey is started.

Income for the month is over 3511 MC.

Fleet Maintenance slips down to under 45% of TGI.

A new class 5 freighter is designed with a medium shipyard module installed on it. The Lego class freighter will be able build bases outside the Gryphon system itself. Trent will soon warrant its own fixed defenses as the population continues to soar. As this ship is well within our capabilities to build it is not considered a prototype; however it is a new class of ship and the first ship built of this type will cost about 20% more than any further units we build. Construction costs for the month are slightly over 12% of TGI.

The CFN is hired to transport an additional 1 million colonists to Trent-B-II, which will bring the population to over 8.5 million. 150,000 colonists head to the (super rich) 2nd Moon of the 4th Planet in the Dudley system (Dudley-IV-ii) where they will establish the Kingdom’s 4th extra-system population center. 600,000 colonists make the journey to the Gryphon system asteroid belt taking the population to over 8.5 million. Colonization costs hit 15.6% of TGI.

The 2nd Exploration Fleet continues to work on the Warp Point Survey of the Sheffield System.

The 3rd Exploration Fleet works on the Warp Point Survey of the Winterton System.

Scientists report success in advancing research into Regular Missiles (SL2).

Income for the month is over 3589 MC.

Fleet Maintenance slips down to under 44% of TGI.

Research continues on (CICb) which could start to show results any time now. Also research continues on Datalink, and Economic Advancement (which still have a ways to go before any success can be achieved). Breakthroughs are being pursued in Capital Sensors and a new technology being called Automated Platforms by our scientists. Savings have accumulated over the past few months so a waiver is granted to the Ministry of Research & Development and after doubling the normal amount spent on Economic Advancement, spending for the month hits 31.4% of TGI.

Work continues on a new Flechette CLc (which will be completed this month), a standard Flechette CL (which will be completed next month), and the first Lego Class construction freighter (which will be completed in 2 months). Construction costs for the month are 0% of TGI.

The CFN is hired to transport an additional 1 million colonists to Trent-B-II, which will bring the population to over 9.6 million. This will actually move Trent-B-II from a Settlement to a Small planetary population. The option will now exists to establish both a Science Academies and a pair of Research and Development Stations on the planet. 300,000 colonists head to Dudley-IV-ii bringing the population to over 450,000. 450,000 colonists make the journey to the Gryphon system asteroid belt taking the population to over 9 million (also making this a Small population). Colonization costs hit 14.9% of TGI.

The 2nd Exploration Fleet continues to work on the Warp Point Survey of the Sheffield System.

The 3rd Exploration Fleet works on the Warp Point Survey of the Winterton System.

April, Age of Expansion, Year 2

Postby kedrake on Thu 21 May 2015 12:23

Income for the month is over 3659 MC.

Fleet Maintenance slips down to under 43% of TGI, however new ships will be added to the fleet for each of the next 3 months so this trend downward trend this year will not likely continue.

The Bureau of Science and Technology reports a breakthrough in the research of Capital Sensors. Now dedicated research into the sciences for that system can commence, however this initial level of science is expected to be very hard to master (needs a critical success). Research is also successful in the science area of Datalink technology. Research on Datalink hardware itself can now begin. Research continues on (CICb) which could start to show results any time now. Also research continues Economic Advancement (which still have a ways to go before any success can be achieved). Breakthroughs are being pursued in Automated Platforms by our scientists. Spending for the month totals just under 20% of TGI.

A new Flechette CLc, the RGN Forrest is delivered this month and will begin training in the home system. As soon as the crew reaches an acceptable readiness state the ship will join the 1st Combat Fleet under command of Marshal Cromwell. A standard Flechette CL is completed this month and will be delivered next month, and the first Lego Class construction freighter will be delivered the month after that. Construction costs for the month are 0% of TGI.

The CFN is hired to transport an additional 850,000 colonists to Trent-B-II, which will bring the population to nearly 10 million. 250,000 colonists head to Dudley-IV-ii bringing the population to over 700,000. 700,000 colonists make the journey to the Gryphon system asteroid belt taking the population to over 9 million. Colonization costs hit 14.9% of TGI.

The 2nd Exploration Fleet continues to work on the Warp Point Survey of the Sheffield System, and is an agonizing 98% complete at the end of the month.

The 3rd Exploration Fleet works on the Warp Point Survey of the Winterton System, and finds itself also 96% complete. Next month will be very interesting for the stellar cartography division.

May, Age of Expansion, Year 2

Postby kedrake on Wed 27 May 2015 13:32

Income for the month is over 3718 MC.

Fleet Maintenance accounts for over 44% of TGI.

Research continues on the hardware for (CICb), which should bear fruit shortly. Work continues on general economic advancement, the science behind Capital Sensors, and the actual hardware for DataLink (Za). A breakthrough is being pursued in Automated Platforms by our scientists. R&D Spending is just over 20% of TGI.

A standard Flechette CL, GSN Archer, is delivered to fleet this month, a new unit of the same type is laid down. Work on the first Lego class FT5 will be completed next month. The space station in orbit of Gryphon begins work on expanding its shipyard by one module. Construction costs hit 28% of TGI because of the shipyard expansion.

The CFN is hired to transport 500,000 colonists to a new outpost on the hash type T planet orbiting the B component of the Thetford system (Thetford B - II). 500,000 colonists also join the outpost on Dudley-IV-II (a super rich moon) bringing that population to over 1.2 million and making it a full fledged colony. 500,000 colonists are also sent to establish an outpost on Cambridge-III. This will make the 2nd landing in Cambridge system as 3 million people in a colony on the super rich desolate moon Cambridge-VII-iv. Finally industrialization of the home system continues as 350,00 brave souls begin an outpost on Gryphon-V-ii ( a rich moon ). This will be the 4th moon population center in the home system and 2nd moon of Gryphon-V to receive a permanent presence. Colonization costs for the month hit over 25% of TGI.

Spending was up this month and the treasury ate into about 40% of its gathered surplus.

The 2nd Exploration Fleet finishes the warp point survey of Sheffield system, discovering 3 more open warp points. Marshal Montfort aboard the Frigate Lucent and Knight Tolliver and Knight Wadsworth in their respective Magellan Class Escorts RGN Barbosa and RGN Vancouver each probe one of the newly discovered warp points.

Marshal Montfort probes a warp point only72 light minutes from the center of the system at a bearing of 2 o’clock, and arrives in a system with a single A7 series white star with 8 planets; however after only 15 minutes in the system collecting data, his chief astrogation officer nearly yelps in surprise and informs his commanding officer that have arrived back in the Cambridge system through a previously unknown concealed warp point. This makes Sheffield now only 2 transits from the Capital instead of 4.

Knight Tolliver probes a warp point nearly 4 times as far from the system center (288 light minutes) at a bearing of 7 o’clock and arrives less than 1 light minute from a neutron star. Had the ship not had active shield the entire crew would have perished instantly, but with shielding the ship is safe enough this close to the star. The powerful radiation from the neutron star has long since boiled away anything within 10 Light Minutes of the star, however the system still boasts an asteroid belt, 2 ice planets, and a very valuable Habitable Gas Torus. Tolliver names the system Big Ben.

Knight Wadsworth draws the warp point only 36 light minutes from where a primary would have been had the system had one, also at a bearing of 7 o’clock. His ship emerges into yet another Starless Nexus. However this system also contains an Emission Nebula, which will reduce sensor and communication ranges drastically. The system also posses Sargassos, patches of space that will disrupt drive fields. This will effectively double the transit time through this system. Wadsworth names the system York.

The 3rd Exploration Fleet finishes the warp point survey of the Winterton System and finds no new warp points. It also conducts a habitable worlds survey and find very little to recommend settling the system.
