My apologies, I was in a hurry when I wrote that and should have been more explicit. Plasma torpedoes do not exist in the Classic Starfire history. Therefore the progression from plasma torpedo to plasma gun that is found in later editions, also does not exist in the Classic Starfire history.

And honestly, even if it did, energy torpedoes seem like something totally different.

Don't forget that Classic Starfire subscribes to the idea that every couple of tech levels something new comes around to disrupt everything. Steve White and Charles Gannon have done a beautiful job of following the canon and priciples like that. Not just with technology, but in how it affected the entire known universe.

Weber and White apparently mapped out abit of the history and these ground-breaking technologies. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, but it does put on the pressure to keep inventing new stuff to keep it going!

Also Classic Starfire draws heavily on E.E. Doc Smith's Lensman series, where exactly this happens. It avoids scaling in the same way (for good reason!), but the disruptive techs idea is very much there.

We've drifted slightly away from that type of Space Opera a little in later editions. (For the sake of gameplay, to be clear, there's no "right/wrong" here!)

Honestly, we have a lot of other stuff that is coming before this. The only work we are doing on older products is to re-release them. There is a bit of a tangled web we would have to fix before we could approach this, and work on 3rd edition’s products that would have to precede working on add-on products. So I really don’t know when it would be possible...

That said, it has been discussed. And I did crack the door open a little with Charles Gannon and Baen. I think it would be neat to bring the rest of the Classic Starfire canon onboard. But I couldn’t give a guess as to when.
