Introduction to the Democratic Solar Confederacy

Every day is a great day in the Democratic Solar Confederacy Navy. Humanity has expanded out to all the original targeted by the slow generation ships launched centuries ago. Except now the worlds are linked by warps in space shortening travel times from years to months. After centuries of separatio...

Re: Starting ship designs EL1 (J, R/G tech) - Solar

I have to agree with Cralis and Thradin. In the early game strategic speed isn't that valuable because you are defending a smaller empire. Once you have more systems and are spread out then you can worry about strategic speed. And the solution can be Tugs or @ equipped ships. Early Ic ships are good...

Re: Stealth Raiding

I approve of crazy drone tactics. Before Qv was on the list of prohibited systems I looked into the economics of using drones to deliver troops. I've done some interesting tricks of dropping drones, moving forward to engage, and then activating them as I retreated back over them giving them drive fi...

2D Star Map site

I did a few searches and I don't think this was posted previously This site has a download where you can get a 24x24 grid of pdfs that have placed all the nearby star systems in a 72 light year diameter. It's only the 2D without z printed on the map but for Starfire purposes or Admiral's Challenge p...

Re: Most current version of Starfire?

I used to have time to run a strategy game of Starfire using the ULTRA rules but my time has become harder to allocate to Starfire.

Maybe when my last child leaves the house I'll be able to find the time again.
Until then I've been playing a lot of Stellaris to get my space 4x fix

Re: Re-release of Stars at War - Aug 30th

One of these days, I'm going to have to take the history data from the project I did with Marvin and rebuild the Stars at War fleets in ULTRA or Solar. When my life calms down a bit I should work on it. Though I've been saying that for the last 10 years or so. My last child goes to college in 3 year...

Re: Ships of the Au Ra Confederacy

It was always my understanding that if you exceed the 20% requirement you had to pay the military hull cost and not be a Freighter hull. But if that changed in Solar, then I'm just mixing rules.

Ship with X systems always pay 15%. The questioning part for me was hull cost.

Re: Ships of the Au Ra Confederacy

In the box below the Ship Hull table, it says:
Freighters built with more than 20% military systems must be built as warships.

X is military system (Xp is not military)

Re: Ships of the Au Ra Confederacy

Don't the monitor class FT0s not have enough hull spaces to support Xb systems? Need 10 hull spaces to support Xb. Or I am remembering that wrong?

Re: FTL Communications

I've always played it that the FTL Communications is only within a single system and that thought isn't going to move through the WP. So P2 is needed to move data from system to system. I even allowed it when I built a universe where all the Starless Voids were within a 10x10 grid of StMP hexes. (I ...
